Republic of Zambia

Officially named the Republic of Zambia, Zambia is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. The capital city is Lusaka, in the south-central part of Zambia.

The population is concentrated mainly around Lusaka in the south and the Copperbelt Province to the northwest, the core economic hubs of the country.

In 2010, the World Bank  named Zambia one of the world's fastest economically reformed countries.

The educational system in Zambia is in desperate need of improvement. The enrollment rate for primary education is at 87% where as higher education is only 37%Textbooks, furniture and computers are just some of the resources that can help to increase the educational standards.

Even though the Zambian Health Care system is improving, the standard of health care still remains very low. There is a lack of medical equipment, trained personnel and technological resources for health facilities across the country, especially in rural areas.

Across the country Zambians struggle to get access to the latest technologies abundantly available to developed countries.  Incredibly 75% of the population do not have any access to the internet which stifles social and economic development.

WHAT WE'VE ALREADY DONE

Provided 4072 Computers

Last year we shipped over 2100 desktop computers with flat screen monitors and peripherals and nearly 2000 laptops to Zambia. These devices have been fully refurbished and licensed with Microsoft software.

Aided 32 Organisations

So far we have managed to supply computers to over 30 separate organisations across the country. We will continue to supply these organisations and are continually added more throughout the year.

Raised £2560

With the help of many of our donors, we helped raise over £2000 this year to directly aid a number of projects across Zambia. This money helps to build  and improve on the infrastructure in some of the poorest regions in Zambia.
